“Empty Cups” offers handmade ceramic cups for $15.
Each donation includes the cup, a hot beverage and a ticket for prize drawings
throughout the event.
This fundraiser is an extension of the First
Christian Church’s “Empty Bowls” hunger relief project led by the Rev. Karen
Davis and the FCC Outreach Division. Due
to the increased need of funding local hunger relief programs and the desire by
Classic Coffee to aid those in need, “Empty Cups” was a perfect fit for a Fall
benefit, says organizer Lynn Hendricks.
Proceeds from this event will support local hunger
relief programs including Shepherd’s Pantry, St. Vincent de Paul and the
Glendora Police Department food voucher program.
“In the past 10 years the ‘Empty Bowls’ benefit has
raised over $80,000 to aid those in need of immediate hunger relief,” Hendricks
says. “The majority of the funds are
raised during the benefit, but donations are received by First Christian Church
throughout the year.”
Classic Coffee has “always donated to schools and
our local churches, but we are excited and honored to be able to use the
resources we have in a new way” says Jonathan Lambert, Classic Coffee general
manager. “We are happy to facilitate an event that can move the community to do
good. We have been blessed enough to be open for almost 10 years and if we can
help bless people that are in need through this event, we are more than happy
to do so.”
